Life is Short, Get off the Couch!

According to the CDC, 243,203 people under the age of 50 died in 2013.  If you died today would you have accomplished all you wanted in life?

Life is Short Get off the CouchAbout 2 years ago, my sister in law Sue died of a brain aneurysm, she was 49.  Sue was the person  I have always wanted to be.  She was full of life, lived abroad, worked for royalty, knew several languages, served in the military and most importantly positively impacted every single person she met.  She tackled every problem in life with astounding zest, and never let anyone tell her that she couldn’t do it.

Her death had a profound impact on me, I realized that I want to live like Sue.  I want to tackle life like a Bronco defensive back sacks Cam Newton.  I want to have a positive impact on every person I meet, and I will not listen to all of the reasons people give me that I can’t do something. I have decided that I can and will do whatever I put my mind to, and in the last 2 years I have followed this mantra.  Here is how I did it and you can too.

Get rid of the excuses.  I have no money, I have no time, I have no talent, no one will help me, my husband/wife will be mad at me, my children need me here.  Bull Spit, as the church ladies say.  You can make money, you can make time and you do have talent. Talk to your spouse! As long as your life long dream isn’t to own a harem, they will probably be more supportive than you think.  I have faith in you, God has faith in you and I know you can find a way to have faith in yourself. I stopped listening to the negative and focused on the positive.

Make a bucket list.  What things would you like to do?  Do you want to see the Eifel tower, catch a monster catfish, ride a horse on the beach?  When you make your list, don’t hold back.  Don’t look at the things that you think are holding you up, just take 20 minutes and DREAM!  My list was really long, but I am already doing more and seeing more than I did before.  eiffel tower

Make a plan. Pick the thing on your list that you think will be the easiest to accomplish and make a plan on how you are going to get there.  Do some research, join a Facebook group, call a friend.  There is a path forward.  It might have some weeds grown up around it, or be hidden under a rock but don’t let that stop you.  Start flipping rocks and beating that brush back!  I want to become a published author, this blog is part of my plan to get there.

Keep Going! You will have setbacks, everyone does, but don’t let that stop you from pushing forward.  Take a breath, look at what went wrong and then move forward.  You can do this!  I took a job that I thought would I would love and I hated it, when I quit it felt like the world lifted off of my shoulders.  In that year I hardly wrote at all, now I am back and more focused than ever.

Once you reach your first goal, the next will come easier.  Each time you accomplish something you will gain confidence.  Life is to short to sit on the couch, there are so many awesome things to see in do in this life and I learned from Sue never quit trying.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very
difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.
I must say that you’ve done a amazing job with
this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Safari.
    Excellent Blog!
