My 10 Favorite Inspirational QuotesY

Bible Quote

1 Corinthians 13 4-7I love this Bible verse because it is so soothing to me.  Look at all that love, it gives you the description of how God loves us and how we should love each other.  Just imagine if each of us tried to hold this standard when we loved our spouses, our children, our families and our friends.   How many less divorces would their be?  I made sure this was in my marriage vows and each time I hear this verse or see it somewhere I can’t help but smile.

Inspirational Quote

You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love ~ Jim Carrey

This is from a 2014 commencement speech that Jim Carrey gave to a group of 2014 Maharishi University of Management graduates.  When I saw it all I could think was, Wow, how true is that?  So many people go to a job that they hate, they are miserable all day, they are miserable when they get home and they hate waking up in the morning. Then after 10 years they are laid off.  They spent all of that time in their “safe” job and it just went to China.  I don’t want to be that person, do you?

When I Feel Old

C.S. Lewis Quote

I will be turning the big Four Oh this summer and while that is still reasonably young, I am starting to feel the pressure to start doing some of those things on my bucket list before my body starts laughing at me when I try to do them.  This quote reminds me that I can still dream, I can still create and I can still do what ever I set my mind to.

When I Screw Up

If Plan A Didn't WorkSo yea, every once in a while, things don’t go exactly as planned.  I love this quote because it reminds me not to freak out.  Just step back, come up with plan B, or C and maybe D and just keep trying.

Happiness is a Choice

I came up with this one several years ago when I figured out that happiness was a choice.  If I chose to get up and have a good day, I will.  If I wake up dreading what the day has in store and complaining before 7 am, its going to be a long day. So I push my bed up against the wall the night before, that way I can’t get out on the wrong side of the bed. This doesn’t mean that things don’t upset me as the day goes on, but starting in a good mood makes my days so much better.  This quote is my reminder.

When I am in Vegetable Mode

The object of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, yelling WOW WHAT A RIDE! ~ Mavis Leyrer

I have never met Ms. Leyrer but she is described in the quote and the stories that go with it as a “feisty octogenarian” and God bless all of her years.  I don’t want to be 80 and say, well I had a safe life, I want stories to tell my grand babies.  I want scars to remind me of how hard I worked and the fun that I had.  This is what I meant in my post Life is short! Get Off The Couch!

Victoria Secret Race chestnut horse
Competing in the “Victoria Secret Race”. Run down, jump off your horse, throw a bra and undies on over your clothes and run back. I did win, thank you very much!

When I am Overwhelmed by Life

When Life Gets To HardI pray every evening, but we all have days that we need a little more help.  This one reminds me that God is always there if I need a hand.

When I am Jealous of Someone Else

Comparison is the Thief of Joy ~ Franklin Roosevelt

Sometimes I look at someone else and think, man they have it all.  They go to Europe, and Africa everywhere!  Maybe you do this to, this quote reminds me to stop comparing myself to other people.  I have no idea where they have been.

When I Need a Kick in the Rear

The best way to the top is to get off your bottomSometimes we all get a bit down, a bit whiny and we need a good old fashioned kick in the pants.  I love the plain language in this quote, nothing fancy just get off your butt.

And # 10

Smiley Face

Because if you can’t control it, you shouldn’t worry about it.  Fix what you can fix and give the rest to God.
