4 Websites That Save You Money
This post is for the skeptics. The people who like me, would never believe that a website could save you money. I have tried all of these websites, and they work, one of them even sent me a check. A real paper check!

I had seen the advertisements, you know, the ones that tell you that they will pay you to shop through their site. Girls saying “look I got $300 back just for shopping”. My first thought was, “yea right what’s the catch?” Turns out there is no catch. You follow a link from their website to one of the 2000 or so stores and you earn money. Real live cash. If the cash wasn’t enough, they also have special deals and discounts you can use just for being an Ebates member. They have links to over 2000 stores, including Amazon, Nordstrom, Overstock, Bass Pro and on and on. Real stores, real cash. Who knew?
This one was so hard for me to believe that my Dad (also a skeptic) and I did a few experiments to make sure there wasn’t a catch somewhere. We went directly to a website and choose a few items, then we went to the same site from the Ebates link and chose the same items to compare the price. Ebates was the same or cheaper each time. I have been using Ebates since January, and they have sent me two real live paper checks (they have other options, just call me old fashioned), totaling a little over $50. $50 for stuff I was buying anyway! Everyone loves amazon, one-stop shopping for pretty much anything on the planet. When we were living someplace so rural I couldn’t find my husbands favorite sriracha sauce, Amazon to the rescue. Can’t find it anywhere, try Amazon. This is one of the big reasons I decided to become an Amazon associate, Amazon rocks. Not only can you find anything at Amazon, but they offer special programs that can save you a bunch of money. Here are the two programs that I have tried, and loved.
I am a book fiend, but my wallet and my husband were starting to complain about my obsession. If you are like me, and enjoy reading, but don’t have the money to keep yourself in good supply of books. Kindle Unlimited might be the right choice for you. For $9.99 a month you can choose from over 1 million titles and there are thousands that come with free audio narration. You can keep out 10 at a time so you can even stock up if you are going to be someplace without a good internet connection.
The free audio was what got me started. I was driving about a thousand miles a week and the audio books that were available on Kindle Unlimited gave me many hours of listening pleasure, for free. If you read more than two books a month, Kindle Unlimited is a good choice for you. Click the banner below to try it free for the first month.
This one took me a while to warm up to, in fact, it wasn’t until I got a smart TV that I even considered it. Lot’s of my friends used Amazon Prime and loved it, but ever the skeptic, I held off. Finally, after looking for something better than Netflix, I pulled the trigger. When I realized I could combine my Ebates savings and Amazon Prime I was pretty excited.
For $10.99 a month you get free, 2-day shipping, tons of movies and TV shows and early access to Amazon’s lightning deals. I hesitated on this one because I don’t order that frequently from Amazon. Christmas time and a few other times a year, but with the addition of all of the movies and TV shows it was a no brainer. Goodbye Netflix, hello Amazon Prime. Coupons are something I associated with my grandmother sitting at the kitchen table, clipping coupons out of the weekly circulars. My grandmother would have loved Coupons.com. You can go to their website, find and print coupons or get coupon codes for department stores. If you sign up you will get special offers direct to your email box.
This website works great when I make my shopping list first. Otherwise, I just end up clipping coupons for a bunch of stuff I don’t actually need.
Groupon is a site that allows you to purchase coupons for entertainment and restaurants. For example, my step-daughter said she was going to a Luke Bryan concert. Our first question was “Where did you get the money for that?” She does work part time, but she is still in high school so she is not usually flush with cash. “Groupon, $26” she answered.
You do have to sign up for the service but you can find great deals on everything from your favorite restaurant, travel deals or concert tickets to see you favorite artist perform.
Combine These Sites to Save More
You can combine these sites to double or sometimes triple your savings. Use Ebates and Groupon or Ebates and Amazon Prime to get cash back, discounts and free shipping. It makes me sad to think of all the money I could have saved if I had discovered these sites earlier. My friends are currently saying “Duhhhh, we told you so”. Yes, I am slow to get on the boat, I always want to know it’s not going to sink before I put a toe on it.
Saving Money and Happiness
Saving money makes me giddy. I love finding a good deal and I am happy to share my success with you so that you can get the deals too. Everyone likes finding good deals, it really does boost your mood at least temporarily. There have been plenty of studies on how marketing and sales effect us, that’s why there are so many sales.
It is what you do with your savings that can really make a difference in your life. Saving money for a vacation or a special night out will make all of these saving really excitement worthy.
